It's not hard! Yes, I do believe the arrest will show up. That doesn't mean you'll be deemed unfit to look after her. I suppose it depends what the arrest was for.

Yes but I believe you can refuse a police check.

Are there children involved?
Question Author
Yes there is. It's regard a child coming to stay with us until the mother is capable of looking after her again. It's not foster care just looking into a residency order

I do apologise. I think you might be over exaggerating a tiny bit here though. I'm not writing a letter to the queen, Just looking for some advice.

Thank you. I think We're in for a few sleepless nights until we have the checks done.
Is it for something minor?
Question Author
No it's not minor unfortunately. It was a case of wrong place, wrong time. He's been dragged in to something his friend is accused of. It's nothing to do with children though I can give you that! Just hoping it won't cause problems for us
:(
I'd consider telling them about it beforehand rather than let them discover it from a Police check.
Well he hasn't been charged with anything so that's a positive.
1) I would think so (and hope so too - what would be the point of a police check if it didn't show up arrests?)

Fill out the forms and keep your fingers crossed

social services are committed to finding a suitable home for the child ( rather than care ) as the results are so much better and so these things wont exclude you.

I have done two references for fostering and it centred on whether the placement was in the child's interests ( child's interests are paramount under the Children Act 1989 )

and good luck
Yes, the arrest will come up!
Arrests don't show on a standard DBS check as there is no conviction, spent or otherwise.

If it is an enhanced check the local police MAY include information about the arrest if it is relevant.
