There is no time limit for making a report to the police about an assault, however, the sooner you report it, the easier it is for the police to charge the person.
why in heavens would you wait to report it if someone assaulted you ?
Sometimes it's just how it happens Sinderella. In my experience often one just wants to forget about it and then feel stonger about it at a later time.
my view is that if you dont report it they will do it again, either to you or someone else.
Surely it will be almost impossible to prove after time has elapsed? Bruises fade etc? It would be one persons word against another. ?
Agreed. It's still not always that easy though.

i was assaulted by a bouncer at a bar and the police attended at the time, i tried reporting it to the policeman at the scene but was told the bouncer was doing his job and because he was sober and i had ben drinking then it was the word of someone sober against someone intoxicated, plus the management of the bar apparently would not give the police permission to view the CCTV at the time and it mysteriously disapeared.

It however turns out that while i was getting kicked in the head by 3 bouncers my brother had seen what was going on and tried to come to my aid in the process injuring one of the bouncers, who has now decided to press charges and the lost CCTV footage has resurfaced so that he can use it for evidence!
Aha danchip ... Now I understand! I think therefore that u could quite easily press charges. Good luck." Some" (not all!!) bouncers are thugs. We have a friend who was a bouncer and he said the best bouncers are the ones who are quiet, unobtrusive and who spot trouble Before it starts . However not all think that way.
doorman not bouncer, and he will have a license hopefully
