A worker’s working time, including overtime, in any reference period which is applicable in his case shall not exceed an average of 48 hours for each seven days.
The working time regulations 1998 require a maximum week of 48 hours averaged over a 17-week period, which you can opt out of and opt back in. This does not apply to some night workers and some other categories of workers. If you believe you will be adversely affected by this arrangement talk to your employers.
