They have to prove u rguilty not u proving innocence. And if they keep making stories up the council will soon cotton on and ignore them!

They constantly spy on me and have reported me for washing a rug at 8.00 @ night, which I did cos the dog fouled on it. They knew i washed a rug because i hung it on the line and they stated that in thier diaries to council. He even knocks on the door and states why is your TV on in the lounge if your on the toilet. Talk about Human Rights and dignity !

The fact of the matter is you are a noisy neighbour - no two ways about it. If your neighbour can tell what room you are in, it must be hell for them. Your question seems to be "what can i do"? and the answer is to listen to the tv more quietly. If you can't hear it at normal levels, you might need to get a hearing aid.

I agree with boxtops, you must be noisy, or at least must have been noisy for a complaint to have started - or is there more to this than you are telling us?
If they can see what room you are in get some net curtains If they can hear your TV, get one of those things that you can use headphones to listen to with Get your hearing checked out Not sure washing a rug at 8 pm is a nuisance but was the dog out there with you barking? Start your own diary about them and their antics You do not have to prove your innocence at all but your neighbour could be successful in their anti social behaviour gripe against you with no evidence whatsoever You have been spoken to by the council, personally I would take note, make sure I am complying and take strides to stop it happening again Get a peephole for your door as well and dont open it to them http:// |

They watch what lights go on and off, so if i go into the kitchen to make a drink or let the dog out, he bangs on my door saying why is your TV on, if your in the kitchen or using the toilet. Surely I cant be expected to turn the TV off, everytime I leave the room. I have done everything I can to try to resolve the issue but I cant lve on my own and not watch TV. My dog does'nt bark she is very senile and I have to do a lot of things for her. There is nothing wrong with my hearing, its basicly a design fault with the houses. the neighbours did ask me if I would consider having a false wall built in my lounge, I replied well why me and not you. They said they did'nt want to lose the space ! I do go to bed at 10.00 every night so they could have worse as some people watch movies and have cinema sound on well into the early hours.

well the environmental health have done the recordings now, which will be listened to next week. If there is anything which constitites a nuisance then it will go from there, but I have a right to enjoy my home. I dont have parties Bbq's or social night here, so I think there victimising me. As for lightin a chimnea, thats a damn right filthy lie, its full of spiders and cobwebs. The only way he knew that chimnea was there was because he looked over the fence and if it had been lit, all my soffits and the fence would have gone up in flames. Lies the lots of it !

Have you considered using wireless headphones when you watch tv?
I also suggest you buy black out blinds for the rooms visible to your neighbour, so you can turn the light on without them knowing. Keep a diary of everything that is happening with the neighbour, including times you can hear their tv or radio; and vacuum cleaner / washing machine etc if it is early morning or late evening. |

So is there a design fault which means that sounds is carried far more than it would be usually due to lack of soundproofing? Can you hear them? Have you looked into any better soundproofing measures?
If this is the case then it may be that you are not necessarily causing excessive noise but, due to the circumstances, it is excessive for them. I'm not saying this is the case and there isn't anything else going on but it may be practically more easier to advise upon. Noise which is loud enough to be annoying to them on a frequent basis could be a big issue for them - maybe even leading to some overreaction due to their frustration. 10pm might now seem that late but if they are being disturbed by things it's a long time, especially if they any have young children. How old is their son and do they have other young children who may be in bed well before 10pm? Do you own or rent your property and roughly how old is it? |

The house is about 25 years old and i appreciate that noise is irratating, but thier noise also get me down. I just think that we have to live as best as we can under circumstances. I live on my own and cant really sit all evening without the TV on, I think that 10.00 p.m. is a fair time for me to switch it off. If I had late TV and parties , I could understand it more. They have lied to a Local Authority about different things and also about me lighting a chimnea. I own the house and not in the position to do anything about it yet.

My house is about that age as well and whilst I can hear my neighbours dining room chairs scrape on the floor, thats all I can hear
I dont think 10pm is late either, in fact thats my bed time as well, more or less, but if you can also hear their TV then there has to be something you can both do Check the link I gave you and if you havent used the chimnea for 2 years, get rid of it |

The recorders have proved that I am not guilty of the accusations of noise - think people who make false allegations to LA's ought to be fined, or made to pay the cost back to the council instead of wasting rate payers time & money.
