Father taking son on holiday

My brothers dad is taking him on holiday but won't tell my mum where they are going or what hotel, nothing, how could my mum find out? Or by law does he have to tell her???

it would be a courtesy, but within the UK not compulsory.
Yes it is compulsory if they both have parental rights.
how old is your brother?
If the parents are estranged or divorced, and if the boy is under 18, the mother should immediately make the boy a Ward of Court. You can do this without a solicitor if you want. Any parent then trying to take a child abroad would be stopped at port or airport by officials.

My brother is 12 and yes they are going abroad, my mum and his dad are also divorced,
My mum doesn't want my brother to lose out on a holiday or even look like the 'bad guy' but wants to find out where they are going, but his awkward father is refusing to tell her
At aged 12 the father doesn't have automatic parental rights
He must tell the mother where they are going or she can put a stop to it
He does if they were married.
