Go to the organisers and ask them to withdraw the poster.
Why are you not playing? Didn't you qualify?
Maybe you can just turn up and play. They can hardly stop you playing if your name's on the poster. |

what wAS his answer i missed it
The answers you missed were of a purely jocular nature, referring to where you stand when playing a game of darts. if this survives long enough, I hope it helps.

Question Author
jogger jayne, i was asked to play in an exhibition with adrian lewis and 6 other top pros, posters went out and i was advertised as being in it. i even helped push the ticket sales etc. now the organiser wants to take me out and put someone else in. surely i have some rights here
Post #1 is the correct advice.
If that doesn't work and you can make the night, why not turn up and get your name on the list of cannon fodder and play? Obviously the player(s) doing the exhibition might recognise you. But so what? Exhibitions are fun. |
exhibition? or tournament?
an exhibition implies a collection of memorabilia and history etc - in which case, if you are big in the world of darts you cannot really stop a historian noting it. if you mean a tournament, do you think they have used your name deliberately to attract people? then perhaps intend to claim you cancelled...? if so, that refelects badly on you - no-one will know they're lying you could just go in and demand its removed and all posters replaced if they wont, see a solicitor and get then to write a letter |
Well, if you are taken out, it sounds like the poster would be misleading the public over ticket sales.
ahh.. i see
your op did not explain very well at all if you want proper answers you must ask proper questions... |
It's hardly libellous, rather the reverse ! No image rights are involved. The main complaint will be the public's when they pay on the false representation that you are playing; that's the organizers' problem. Get on to them straight away, have them remove your name, say it was an error, and tell them you are annoyed at being shown on the advertising as playing when you are not, since that is a false statement to the ticket buying public and one which is likely to lead to people accusing you of backing out; two embarrassments which you are sure they would wish to avoid.

do you want to play, or want not to play?

@joko
An "Exhibition" is a specific term in the darts world. A top player turns up at a venue and plays 20 (usually) local darts players one game 501 straight start, finish on a double (BDO rules). A good exhibition player will make the evening fun with banter, handouts, stupid finishes (one-bullseye for 51) and using a tame scorer (who scores 100 whatever a weak player hits until they need a double). The best Exhibition players can spot the real opposition and play a serious game against them with a straight scorer (win or lose). Thankfully nowadays if Eric Bristow has 32 left and goes down on one knee he is liable to miss. I remember the game against John Lowe when he crossed the line of gamesmanship like it was yesterday. |

Since he is the only one you have named you could contact him and ask his advice

Good post @HowardKennitb
Never heard of Adrian Lewis, but the PDC is not the BDO by any means. His website impllies connections with Keith Deller (former BDO World Champion). This connection may not enhance his career prospects. |
Are you well known name wise?
It may be a simple misunderstanding so contact the organisers and ask them to correct the poster. If you feel very strongly over the matter you could contact the ASA 020 7492 2222. If the poster is on a legitimate site.
