Tobacco Sales Regulations - Blind Smokers!

Greetings each.
Here's an interesting scenario:
Upon enquiring about the price of a certain brand of cigarettes at my local supermarket today, I was presented with a price list and informed that the sales assistant was forbidden under the law to ACTUALLY tell me the price and that I would have to read it myself.
What happens if the purchaser is blind then?
Do they then have to ask for a braille price list?
How ruddy stupid!

It takes about ten minutes to buy cigarettes now, while they go and get them from the closed cupboard, since they can't say on the outside of the cupboard which cigs are in which compartment.

I am partially sighted and pointed that out to the manager at ASDA, I was told that someone from customer services would help if needs be.

There's actually nothing in the rules which specifically prohibits store staff from verbally providing price information:

However stores instruct their staff not to do so in order that trading standards officials can't see their actions as an attempt to circumvent the intentions of the regulations. It would be obvious to a trading standards official that making an exception for a visually-handicapped customer involved no such intent.

PS: What's so illogical about providing a Braille price list anyway? Morrison's, for example, have their restaurant menu available in Braille in all of their relevant stores.

Gave up smoking some time ago. TV adverts against smoking rekindle my desire for a cigarette. A case of least said soonest mended?

Having a Braille list would be exceptionally good practice for any store
There is no rule to keep fags in a locked cupboard, they just have to be hidden out of sight, behind a screen

I've known a lot of blind people and I cannot think of one who smoked.
I'm sure there must be smokers who are blind but it does put comic images in my head.
