is it possible to use one solicitor for the sale and a different solicitor for the purchase ? there are reasons for this.

Of course it is.
But you may be paying double. I've found that when Solicitors do both, the fee is less than it would cost for each separate part added together.

thought so, i am aware it may cost more, it was just the estate said it couldnt be done..
i know, never believe an estate agent or a used car salesmen..
