Criminal

gbh with intent

I was glassed in a nightclub last weekend by my Boyfriend.
He got jealous and i threw a drink over him so he glassed me in the face.. he didnt break the glass before but it smashed in my cheek. I was rushed to hospital by Ambulance and he was arrested. I had 20 stitches in my face and am due to have an operation to repair my salivary gland as that was severed during the attack. He is on bail at the moment and i believe he is being charged with GBH with intent. The police have CCTV footage and even if i dropped the charges the police would persue it and take it to court. I dont think he has any previous so wasnt sure what sentence he would recieve? Please help me

GBH with intent carries a maximum of life imprisonment, but it is doubtful (unfortunately) that this man will get life. I say unfortunately as if a person can inflict this type of damage to someone that he/she is purported to love (I assume that there are loving feelings as you were/are in a relationship with him) then God only knows what he/she would do to a complete stranger!

Good luck for the future - you will need it if you stay with him!

You had 20 stitches,AND a damaged salivary gland;and you want to drop the charges?
On what planet do you live?
You are welcome to him, because in the society you live in this sort of behaviour seems normal practice.
I hope he gets a l~o~n~g sentence.

Although there is as you hint a difference between someone who grabs a bottle and deliberatlely breaks it before using it as a weapon and someone who just grabs the first thing to hand, glassing is still taken extremely seriously.

See the guidelines here
http://www.sentencing-guidelines.gov.uk/guidel ines/other/courtappeal/default.asp?T=Cases&cat ID=3&subject=WOUNDING%20/%20CAUSING%20GRIEVOUS %20BODILY%20HARM%20WITH%20INTENT

A sentence of 3 years is considered the minimum even where there is a plea of guilty.

There have been some cases where people have given a non custodial sentence but the last time I checked the figures every GBH with intent sentence that was non-custodial got a prison sentence when the prosecution appealed the sentence

A man does not hit a women in any circumstance especially with a glass. He must be a real control freak if he's got you feeling sorry for him.Bang him up.I expect he'll meet alot of people inside who don't like that and he'll get his just desearts.Get your head round it and find yourself someone who will love you and not use you like a punch bag or worse .Get out out darlin .It's your life
