Last week I was arrested for Violent disorder at a football match, I was just wondering what Sentence or punishment I would be looking at if charged. (Bail ends early in march). I am a first time offender and have said that I acted in defence of myself.

My story is that I was walking home, a disorder started. I am caught on CCTV throwing a punching motion but I have admitted to punching a male in the leg to give me and my friend enough to to escape. (The male in question was assaulting my friend while this happened and showed threatening behaviour towards myself).

Any help would be useful

Thanks

Violent disorder is a serious offence under the Public Order Act (second only to the rarely charged "riot"). Magistrates' sentencing guidelines suggest that cases should generally be dealt with in the Crown Court, meaning that Magistrates' sentencing powers (maximum six months custody) are inadequate.
