I have been seperated from my husband for 4 years but we havent started divorce proceedings yet. He still lives in our (jointly owned) house and I have not had anything from it. I have not contributed to the mortgage since I moved out as I had to rent somewhere. We started paying an insurance policy 15 years ago and it is due to be paid out next month - possibly worth about £15000. Obviously he has had to pay the monthly payments since I left but it is in his name only anyway. I feel that as I worked full time for the 17 years we were together, I should be entitled to a share of that payout. Anyone know if I am, what percentage, and how I should handle it ? He is not a reasonable person !
I know I could see a solicitor but I am trying to avoid the expense until absolutely necessary as I am on a low income.Thank you kindly.

i think your entitlement will depend entirely on what arrangement you can both come to as it's in his name
11/15ths of half the payout would seem a fair amount. Approx £5500.
