My hubby has just been told that his work is closing on September 30th,therefore he and all others are going to be made redundant. He has been there for 16 years and will be 43 when he leaves.Does anyone know how much(ish)redundancy he will be legally entitled to?I'm worried sick about paying the mortgage and bills.I work 35 hours per week but my monthly wage will not cover everything.I know i'm probably panicking and things won't be that bad but with 3 children and a mortgage I need to start getting my head around it now!!
Many thanks

Here is very useful, we have gone through the same thing recently =(

Here is a calculator

It depends if the company has a redundancy policy but this link tells you about your basic rights and payments.
Basic predundancy pay is 1.5 weeks pay (after age 41) for each full year of continuous employment with the company.
Sorry forgot the link, some have posted already - this is the payment details page

Hope you get sorted out soon. It is a very stressful time. I found CAB and ACAS very helpful with advice etc.. But I had a few legal problems with our redundancies. Your O/H will be entitled to Jobseekers also (although it isn't much) I do believe you are NOT entitled to housing benefit as you have a mortgage and not renting but you should check this out anyway until he finds work again. =)

Thanks all for the links and advice, have visited the gov website and it's quite helpful. You're right greedyfly i'm not entitled to claim housing benefit however it looks like i may be able to just pay interest on my mortgage for a short period which will help the money situation.
Once again thanks to you all.u never know i might win the lottery this weekend!!!
Glad we could help. Good luck with it all (especially the lottery!)
If you do win the lotto could you throw some my way I am still unemployed from my redundancy lol

It will get better, for all of us I promise =0
