I am a commercial maintenance operative and cover most trades electrical, plumbing, joinery, roofing on a reactive repairs basis.

I work for someone at the minute but really want to set up on my own.

Because I only have commercial experience I would prefer to stick to commercial repairs because thats what i am good at.

My question is how would i get commercial businesses to take me seriously and use me for their maintenance or repairs as and when they needed me.

also as far as being paid is concerned how would i accept payment and if invoice when do i get the details for the invoice before or after the job e.t.c (on the basis that i have never done work for them before)

Seriously?
Wow, I like knowing I've helped.
Wouldn't commercial business take you seriously if your experience was shown?
I dunno...
Have a look at this site - it may help..... http://www.ehow.co.uk...tenance-business.html
Re the invoicing question, you would probably have to give them a written quotation or estimate before they agreed to your doing the work, and you would need their office postal/reguistered address in order to do that. You need to find out before you start the job where you should invoice and how they like their invoices made out. You wouldn't want to start work for a new customer without knowing how and when they would pay you! You would need to draft up some terms and conditions, to be on teh safe side too, eg payment expected within 30 days etc
