Linguaphone Complete Course? How Good?

Has anybody here ever used the Linguaphone complete course for any language? They say the level you are taken to is 'advanced'. I'd like to know how competent people have felt with another language after buying their complete course. Any other alternatives to Linguaphone would be great, if any! Look forward to hearing from you!

I used linguaphone before I came to live in France. It was a home course with books, cassettes and an address I could write to when I had questions. It did help me to understand French but not to speak. I'd strongly advise you going to a course with a lab.
