Hi. Thanks for your answers not sure what the link was for but it didn't take me to any info about plumbing!
He works continental shifts so regular night classes aren't a good option for him. Just wondered if any plumbers or people who have been on courses such as this had any info. |

Ive been looking at plumber training for a while now and found that the fees range from 5000 to around 6500. For this you get online course material and help from a course tutor. You should also get practical sessions at a centre. at the end you should gain the City and Guilds qualification. Bear in mind he will still be inexperienced in the real world and the trick is to find someone willing to take him on. Im still in two minds about it as there is so much conflicting information. From what Ive researched it is possible in about 8-12 months.

Hi Stevesw thanks for that info.
I thought about the fact that he will have to get someone to take him on as he wont be able to go out to a job and expect to know exactly what he's doing. He has a very well paid job at the mo but is thinking of moving out of the area so wants to learn a trade. I suspect that nowadays plumbers have to be part of some organisation that regulates them like Corgi for Gas, but will City and Guilds be enough to get this? Also how much do plumbers tend to earn a year? |
