Back Office work isn't generally done in the branches anymore, it is carried out in Service Centres. Are there any near you?

When I worked for NatWest, when back office work was still in branches, we used to open/close accounts, set up standing orders, make foreign payments etc. Most of this work has disappeared as accounts are now opened by the Customer Service Advisers in the branch when the customer is present. Same with setting up standing orders.

I would find out if there is a service centre near you and send a CV in.
