Is she in receipt of maintenance for her and/or the children from you?
Question Author
no, we have an agreement, nothing official. i give her and provide when needed.

why ?
She`d lose pretty much all of it on childcare for the 6 year old as restaurant hours tend to be unsocial
If there is nothing 'formal' between you....then the rest of us are picking up the tab for your child-care.

jackthehat, thats just pathetic. wise up !!
It's true.
If you were paying your fair-whack.....the amount your wife receives would include 'your' contribution.
But as you don't and just hand over money 'as and when' she can never be sure of her income week to week and the rest of us have to stump up the difference.
My friend is separated and receives some benefits but child maintenance is not included when they work out how much benefit she receives.

jackthehat, you dont know my personal life, sometimes i have work sometimes i dont .

stick to the questions asked and stop dribbling on about you or anyone else paying for my families keep, better still take it to your local MP.

my wife did not arrive here on a boat btw. she worked for years and contributed into system.

do not jump to conclusions.

If you take a longer term view it's almost always better I feel to take work even if there is not much in it financially in the short term. The longer someone is out of work the harder it is to get a job later when they want one.

retrochic. that is a sad idiotic response . im not working atm ;-)
hiya, the child benefit will continue (unless she is paid a MEGA amount) I was under the impression that out of work benefits (such as JSA) are tailed off when the chil become school age.
Do the twins' dad pay anything? It might make a difference
Question Author
im not the twins dad. i think she is on jsa now as our daughter is 6 yr old.

question for retrochic. would you work if you did not have to ? be honest, i would not !!!
When I received CTC and WTC...maintenance wasn't taken into consideration. That was quite a while ago so things might have changed.

I think they took the view that the absent parent couldn't be relied on.

answer -I probably would as I would get bored. I personally work but I have no need to financially.
What did you say in the reply that was removed?
Question Author
ummmm i think the same though i must check it out.

retro,
if you have a problem then next time around vote wisely, idiots voted bigger idiots in .
From someone who works for HMRC (not me btw)

For diesaldick thread - She will have to work 16 hours a week and depending on how much she earns it will not be tapered. Maintenance does not get taken into account, and she will probably get up to 70% of her child care costs!!
