Just received this - which I'm highly suspicious of so am sending it off to the Paypal spoof dept. It wasn't addressed to me personally e.g Dear Mrs Ann as it should be. A clever scam methinks. So be aware folks!

This is what the email says - it seems to be from Paypal Australia as it has a .au in the address.

Ann, I put a post in last week regards EBay>>Pay Pal, Someone used my account to pay for a Sovereign £108 ++ I contacted P.P. after a couple of days the money was returned to my account & the fraud Dept are now looking into it, so beware.
Hahaha I get these all the time and I have never ever used paypal, same with HSBC bank. But I will give my bank details to the Africans cos apparently I am a princess to them ;-)
Just look at the headers and you'll see it's come from an account that seems nothing to do with paypal or has a similar looking but not correct name - I get lots from payal.co.uk
If it says Dear Customer and doesn't name you then it's also a scam
the only bona fide e-mails from paypal are 1 if you have changed your password, 2 if you have made a purchase. i have recieved dozens saying either that they have limited my account or suspended it then this weekend one saying that i had a purchase worth £314 pending and asked me to say if it was genuine. all of these were phishing excercises. don't fall for it!!!!
It amazes me how any scammer can think that by giving anyone a mere 48 hours to reply is going to work - I may be on holiday, in hospital, have a power failure or just not logging on to the internet - imo anything that indicates if you don't act quickl' your world will crash' is a scam.
