Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I really need to know this. Do any of you here make any money online by using a computer, and if so then where did you find the work? I would also be able to type up author's manuscripts either from handwritten, or from a tape. Can you tell me where I will find this work from home?

Can any of you verify the link in the website below:

Thanks in advance for any replies.

are you any good at typing? How fast are you per minute? do you have any experience in the area? I can't really see you getting a job "typing up manuscripts" - are tere enough authors in the world who don't type themselves for you to earn a living??
I don't think there are many, if any, ways of making money from home using your own computer.
I'd be particularly careful with anybody asking you for a fee to help you find work.
Prostitution ?

Have you looked here?
i seem to recall that redcrx has a friend who is a moderator and gets paid for it
do you think if anybody knew the answer they´d share it with us? unlikely
you need to look at your strengths. If you haven't been a typist before, why do you think you would be any good at it? or fast enough? What was your previous job?
There's all sorts of work you can do from home working on a computer, but you need the particular skills in those areas to make a living out of it.

I'm thinking of web site designers, graphic artists, designers of pamphlets, flyers etc etc. All these can be done at home, but you need to a) know how to do it b) be good at what you do c) be competitive and d) be able to find work for yourself.

Typing up manuscripts isn't where I'd look to start as I can't see there's a demand for it.

Thanks for your speedy answers, folks. I should explain myself further, as I have been a typist before, and do have very good keyboard skills. Do not know much about making websites from home, but would love to work typing up manuscripts who authors who can not type. Is this possible, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
as i said, i would imagine that there are few authors who cannot type. If you are setting up a service doing this, how will you get your customers? How will your customers know you are any good?
You need to network through writing/book clubs, related social events and forums. How you come across as a person can then get people interested in your technical skills and services. Good luck.
its not just copying their words though...it'd be proofreading ...so you would have to learn perfect grammar and spelling, formatting, and proofreading symbol use etc...

you could perhaps try legal or medical document transcribing if you have any knowledge in those subjects
There could possibly be few rich or idle students at Universities who can't be bothered to do their own Theses so you could always enquire there.
You can get the format/layouts of the various subjects from the University Office and possibly leave your contact details and cost per 1000 words, etc with them. You need to do a draft copy in case they need alterations (and they always do) and then the presentation copy plus delivery/collection each time so price yourself to cover that.
I did a couple of Theses for Salford Uni students when I retired just in case I needed to top up the pension but then decided I would be OK.

There are also web sites to cover Proof-reading if you fancy learning that then you could put a small ad in the local paper for typing letters/ manuscripts, etc.
Hope this helps and good luck.
lol do I know you, evil_sheep?

yes i do have a friend who works online through the night working on american forums as a moderator. She does 12 hour shifts and works while her children sleep. Its not easy work but it is legitimate.

Thanks for all your speedy answers, folks. I did not think that anyone could be paid for being a moderator; I thought that work was voluntary. The Spelling Police and the Grammar Police do all their work for nothing, so that is not much help there.

I take it none of you do any of this kind of work yourself.
large companies do have paid staff moderating the boards though many would have volunteers. But volunteer mods would only have to do the basics i suppose, my friend has to pull all info together if she is to ban or suspend people, and it can be a lot of work.
