may not even help if they were but with sians murderer being a taxi driver and the night stalker i just wondered. Thanks

Thing is though, crb checks are only any good if the person has been caught before - I think it lulls people into a false sense of security. For instance, I'm not sure if Peter Sutcliffe had any previous convictions before being caught as the Yorkshire Ripper. A crb check would've come up clean if that was the case, but it didn't mean he was a fine upstanding citizen.

yes thats why i said may not even help. I have clean crb but i may not have been caught :-)
