Crossword, Anyone?

I made a [non-cryptic] crossword for my mates in the pub, who seemed to like it, so I wondered if anyone here might like to try it? (Their text message last night said that it took them 50 minutes to complete, with only a couple of hints from the internet).

Grid here:

To print it out I suggest right-clicking on an image and selecting 'Copy image'. Then go to a blank document (in, say, Microsoft Word), right-click and select 'Paste'. If you find that the image is too big for the page (as I did when I tried it) drag the top-left corner diagonally downwards until it fits.

Hoping that this might be of interest to someone,

Chris

Those double and triple unchecked cells! *gasp of horror; faint*

I didn't say that it was technically perfect, Jim!
I'll try it, will let you know later how I get on.

Thank you, Butterbun.

I'm finishing off another one for the guys in the pub. It would be useful to know whether there would be any point in posting it here as well.
I'll give it a miss, I don't know that many big words.

How are the babies doing?
I 9a in respect to a cross word master. :-)
Let me rephrase that^. A crossword master, not a cross word master

I think you've lost me, Sandy. (BTW, you've definitely no excuse for not getting 1a, as I encountered it in one of your posts!).

Hi Wolf
The 'babies' aren't so baby-sized any more. (The biggest two have passed 1kg already!). They're generally driving me potty but they're just as lovely as ever.

Patches hasn't read the textbooks about weaning either. Her kittens will be 9 weeks old on Friday but she's still feeding them several times per day.
Have you popped it on to the Q&P round up thread? Here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Quizzes-and-Puzzles/Question1326073.html

Ooh, thanks for the image embedding, Ed!
That should have been 19a.
The clues are too small. Can't read them, even with my specs!
Click on them, Cupid.
Chris

How many little princesses do you have? How many little thugs.

Frankie has an appointment at the vet at six. I haven't told him, but he knows and he is MIA. Should be fun- not!!

>>>That should have been 19a.

Aha! Now I understand. Thank you, Sandy ;-)

Wolf63:
Patches should have had an appointment at the vets (to ensure that she doesn't produce any more little darlings) weeks ago but I think that she's deliberately feeding them as long as possible (because it can't be done until they're fully weaned) in order to avoid going there ;-)

>>>How many little princesses do you have? How many little thugs.

They were meant to be going to the vet for a check-up at the same time as their mum went in for her little op and I was going to leave it to the vet to work out their genders. So ('cos I can't take them away from Patches) they've not been 'officially' sexed yet.

However, unless I've got it totally wrong, the smallest one (Tablo) is the only girl. That's the tabby with the tiger face that everyone seemed to want when I posted pics of them.

The next smallest is Moonbeam, who is the only one to have defied Mum and come downstairs yet (unless we count a bold excursion from Biscuit, while chasing Moonbeam in the early hours of this morning). Despite Mum making it extremely clear that she wants him to stay upstairs, he's been spending much of his time downstairs for the past fortnight (and he's currently curled up on my knee as I'm typing this). He's the one with a silvery-tabby coat and white bands.

Biscuit (the ginger one) is massive but still cute, and getting bolder by the minute.

Biggest of all though is Chequers (black & white). He loves to come under the duvet with me and tickle my feet while I'm trying to get to sleep! I try not to have a favourite but I know that it's Chequers really ;-)

Thanks Chris. Really enjoyed that one, it took me 45 minutes. Did not cheat and look at the answers honest!
Good quiz. Didn't finish till very late as we had a power cut for over 3 hours, but managed it with help of OH. Had to Google for some answers though but we enjoyed it.
Ta Chris - I have my copy printed, will save it for a long journey on Friday, if the children nod off (fingers crossed).
