I'm applying for a Theatre Support Worker post with my local hospital with a view to becoming a nurse in the future. Is nursing that bad? I'm not doing it for the money but i can't help but feel from all the info that nursing is not a good job area to get into. Please someone tell me it is good and that it's not all bad.

Thanks, good job i'm doing because this is what i want to do and not money. Your right about Governments, study not a problem and this is what i really want to do but i take on board you points and thanks again. Really appreciate your time.
know your question has been answer but couldn't help but offer my opinion.
im currently a support worker as my local hospital and have been for the past two and a bit years, to begin with i was shocked just basically seeing operations but now i enjoy it and also the other duties as well. Nurses that i work with are pushing me to go do my training but sadly im just not intrested (i say that now)
try the support worker as you'd pick up some really usefully stuff and be able to ask the proper questions before heading off to uni. I know for a fact that lots of people at my work started off as support workers and now are qualified, they enjoy the challenge and more or less enjoy their work.
So i'd say go for it....who know you might change your mind and go for the ODP course....which is like nursing (sure its one year more or less) but you'd be trained to recovery, scrub and deal with the anesthetics as well....
btw...seeing the date, did you go for it??

Hi LongVodka, applied and got the job in May, started at the end of Jun and i really love it. Have no probs with the ops or anything relating to the job at all. I just really really enjoy doing the job.
To that end i have decided to put moving onto my training on hold. Same as ODP i looked at that as well, i just enjoy doing what im doing now and don't really want to move just yet.
Thanks for writing, all info is helpful. Good luck to you in what ever job you decide to do. Cheers, Snake_eyes
