old insurance policy found

mother in law has found an old penny policy taken out on her in 1946 ,at that time worth £15 and5 shillings, dont know if the company still exists ,and even if it would be worth anything now. any idea how we go about getting any info about this policy

I also have one on myself taken out in 1935,it became fully paid up and is worth the pricely sum of £18,i guess it will buy a couple of beers when i'm gone.

AS Naz says, google the company and find out if they still exist and if not, which company took them over.
