Insurance

My insurer wants to put in a claim even though I didnt claim, which will affect my no claims bonus.

I had a bump with a work colleagues car, no damage to either vehicle and my colleague isn't claiming from me. However I registered an enquiry with my insurance company, as you are supposed to, and stated clearly from the outset that all I wanted was advice. However my renewal is up in three weeks and they say that unless I get a statement from this person confirming that they aren't claiming, my no claims will be affected even though my insurance company aren't paying out. Can they do this? Needless to say I am fuming.

Yes they can, because the third party has a relatively long time to bring an action for damages.

They want to be sure there is not going to be a claim.

Fair enough Ethel, thanks for clarifying that for me, and so quickly too.
