My sister's renewal came for her cat and had gone up 5 pounds to 28 pound a month. She decided to do it in her partners name, same cat, same post code and she got it for 16 pounds! What a con!!

Just like car insurance then?
^^ Should the title be Purr Insurance??
My little boy has feline asthma and Tesco have been paying out for about 6 years on an ongoing basis. I have found them good to deal with.

But the cost of the premiums can get pretty scary. £28 is a lot - my two are ten years old and they cost me £22 for both of them each month.

I hope your sister doesn't have any problems when time comes for her to make a claim.

Being a two cat family can be expensive business. :-)

Yes, looks like it's back to the "brand new customers only" scenario.
Same happened to me, started at £7 a month for dog insurance, kept creeping up, 12 years in only 1 shall claim and it went from £30 to £42, was not happy, tried a new claim and could get better cover still with same company for £30, phoned them got the run around but in the end managed to get the cheaper cover, they just hope you renew and not shop around.
If you're animal has no pre existing condition then you can shop around for some good deals. Unfortunately my hound has been diagnosed with arthritis (I'm very sceptical) so his monthly cost is £90. I'm debating whether or not to cancel the policy, put the money away and just take on the chin any vets bills that might come my way.
Good grief rocky and I thought my insurance was a lot, I did think of cancelling but would be Sod's law that my dog would get ill, been totally healthy the whole time.
But we do love them.
i have 2 dogs and a cat - my pet insurance bill is an eye-watering £148 per month. Cat and 1 dog have long term conditions. Cat is 17, so couldn't get him insured anywhere else, dog has recurrent mast cell tumours, so couldn't get that covered anywhere else. I keep toying with the idea of cancelling and putting the money aside instead, but unfortunately that'd only work if they gave me a cushion of a few months where one or t'other of them wan't at the blooming vets!
