Short of asking the owner.......NO.

I am curious as to why you would wish to know this.

Why do you feel that someones house insurance arrangements should be made compulsory, and also public knowledge methyl.?

How do you then feel about insurance of jewelry made public knowledge, for the benefit of burglars etc. ?

But why would you want to be able to find that info out?
Sorry methyl I did not mean my post to be aggressive.
But I certainly would not like details of my belongings being available to every Tom,Dick or Harry.

It all costs money. Unfortunately it's not high on the list of priorities for some.
Just ask policy holder
Third Party motor insurance is a statutory requirement, and therefore it is right and proper that this information is publicly available.

Household insurance is not a statutory requirement. Public Liability (with the exception of riding schools and nuclear establishments) is not a statutory requirement. Therefore it is nobody's business other than the property owner, or any other person or body who has a financial interest in the property (such as a mortgage company) whether the property is insured, and mortgage companies will generally ensure they are named either as a joint-insured or a co-insured.

As such, and rightly, this information will never be made publicly available.

calm down folks .
The reason for my question is that a family member is very ill and therefore unable to look after their affairs .
We are trying to keep things in order as much as we can .

We can't locate any documentation in order to see if there is a current insurance policy covering the property
I don't think we need to be told to calm down ( as per D Cameron )

If you had asked the question properly, then you may have got some possible assistance.

My thoughts are :

a ) Check to see if there is,or has been,a mortgage over the property. If yes then contact the building society/bank, who will have details of the Insurer.
b ) Check bank statements to try to locate relative payments and to which company.
My insurer got in touch by email when time for renewal do although you may have difficulty finding who it is they will no doubt be in touch eventually.
We have no house insurance, it is a council house and we have never had any new furniture can't afford it. Every thing we have either second hand or donated.
You can't eat an insurance policy!
Agreed you can't eat an insurance policy eddie but you eat at a table, sit on chairs, sleep in a bed, watch TV etc etc.
^^ my TV was 2nd hand cost £50 ,2 beds were free one cost £20 2nd hand
dining room table, 6 chairs and 3 piece suit all free.
Cooker £8 washing machine free .
if we lost it all I would just replace it with free or 2nd hand stuff there is plenty about as long as you are not fussy
