Just wondering if anyone has ever claimed for a holiday cancelation and how long the process took. My husband, daughter and I had to cancel our holiday to Lanzorote last week as my dad was very ill. I booked the holiday in may and dad became ill at the end of september but deteriorated two days before we were due to travel. I know we are covered but I was wondering how long it will take.

If you have filled in the forms and sent off the medical evidence, they should have acknowledged to you by now - chase them up?
My mother died three days before we were due to go away - I received a refund, less the standard excess, four weeks after I submitted my claim.
I sent my claim off 3 weeks ago,had confirmation of receipt by telephone but nothing since.I think probably another week.

Thanks for your advice. I got a text to let me know that they received all my details and they said they will be in touch within four weeks. Insurance is the last thing on my mind now My dad passed away on tuesday and my mother in law who was also very ill passed on today. Its been a terrible stressful week. Im so glad now I didn't go to Lanzorote.
Update...Very sorry to hear about your dad GDSfan. I hope your insurance claim has been settled. I eventually got my cheque this morning,it took about 7 weeks.
