The Kennel Club insurance covers you even if your dog has recurring injuries or illnesses, as long as you remain insured throughout with them, and of course their premiums are high. I don't know about comparative prices, but PetPlan does that too - one of my cats has a long term condition, they just carry the claim over from one year to the next. Have a look at http://www.petplan.co.uk/ - there's a 10% on-line discount for new policies at the moment.
