E-mailed picture size

When I send a photo by e-mail it is vast, far larger than I want, so much so that the recipient has to scroll across to see it bit by bit ! How do I adjust the size of the image sent ?

if you use a stand alone mail client (ie outlook or outlook express amongst others) the right click on the picture you want to send and select send to > mail recipient and you'll be given the option to resize the pic before sending.

If you use a web based mail service (ie hotmail, gmail etc..) then this way will not work.
Insert your picture into a word document - you can then right click and resize the picture. Then send the document as an attachment.
Best way is to use an imaging tool to resize the image.

Paint.Net is free and can do this.

when I email a picture from My Documents (via Outlook Express) it automatically offers me the option of resizing. But it seems totally unpredictable when I send a photo via Hotmail or Gmail.

Ah, right. Avoid hotmail is the simple answer! Failing that, I'll use VHG's method.
Thanks.
know it's a bit late but the easiest way I find (if it's a file already saved on your computer) is to open it in paint (in accessories on all ms packages) and go to 'image' and 'stretch/skew' then in the boxes for 'stretch' reduce the figure from 100(%) down to however small you want it, e.g. if you want it to be half the size reduce the figure in both horizontal and vertical boxes to 50. also works to enlarge, just change to 150 etc. the number has to be the same in both boxes or you'll get some very odd results!
