How it Works

Potterton Boiler

I have a Performa 24 Eco HE boiler. I've tried turning on the heating and water together and separately. The boiler sounds like it starting up, it makes the whirling sound but that's all. None of the lights are on, so I presume it's the power supply. I've checked the fuse which is fine.

Any ideas?

it could be a host of problems but if its making a whirring noise (fan or pump) then its not the power supply.

could possibly have gone to lockout in which case sometimes the other led lights wont be lit (but the lockout one usually does, is red)

could be anything from the circuit board to the air pressure switch.

you need an engineer.

It turned out to be the circuit board. I only had it installed 5 weeks ago. They replaced it but charged me even more money. Not happy.

Thanks for replying though!

you had the boiler or the circuit board installed 5 weeks ago?
in either case both the boiler and any replacement circuit board will have at least a 12 monhs guarantee.
if it was a new boiler pottertons own engineers should have came out to fix it and if it was a replacement board then whoever you used last time should have replaced the board for free but yes i would expect to pay the labour as a faulty boards not there fault.
