I'm no whizz on the computer, but sometimes just switching it off and back on again gets rid of little 'glitches'. For more serious stuff I switch it off and leave it off over night!

You have not given us much to go on.
Is it a laptop, or a PC with a separate monitor?
Some TFT (flat screen) monitors do have small speakers built in. Is this your case?
If so, have they ever worked?
Have you changed anything recently (hardware or software) that may have caused them to stop working?
I have a flat screen monitor with small speakers built in. If I want to use them I have to plug in a small cable into my monitor, and then plug the other end into the sound card on the back of my PC.
Have you go this small cable, or have you never needed it?
Do you know how your monitor is connected to your PC. Most monitors either use a VGA cable or a DVI cable, but I do not believe either of them carry sound.

btw, not sure if you are aware, but there is a Technology section, and also a Computer section under technology.
Most of the computer experts hang out there.
If you dont get it fixed here ask in Technology or Computers.

Have you accidentally muted it?
(Is there a little red roadsign on the loudspeaker icon over there on the lower right)

Is the sound lead still plugged in?
(or is that too simple)

LOL @ panic...
You would make a good computer engineer... the trick is to start at the simple and work up

I did this once after installing microsoft updates. I went back and did system restore to the day before I updated and it sorted it out - I hope that makes sense
