measure the middle post from the centre of the Crank to the top where the sea goes in.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Yes it's essentially the length of the seat tube(or down tube) measured from the centre of the crank-pin (spindle) measured up the seat tube to the centre of the seat post bolt at the top of the frame. Tradionally measured in inches. Most current full-suspension bikes are too small for anyone over about 5'10. Better is to have just front suspension with a big frame.

If you are buying a mountain bike, err on the small size, or at least be sure that when standing astride the bike there is a decent clearance between the crossbar and your delicate bits.
