Is it just me, but his year everywhere I turn there are these ubiquitous deep blue fairy lights, on windows or festooned outside houses. Even my new kettle lights up the same colour!! Are these a special kind of lamp only available in this shade of blue? or are ther other s that give off these deep vivid shades?

I Totally agree Carol.
Blue seems to be "in" this year.
Why? I have no idea. But I think they look quite nice.

up to relatively recently blue LEDs were very expensive to manufacture. however they managed to find a way which is another reason for the flat screened TVs have suddenly burst onto the market.because a tv piccy is made up of red ,green and blue.up until say 3 years a red led would cost 2p an equivalent blue was about £5.
these days the red is still 2p and the blue 20p.so I suppose the more demand will bring the manufacturing price down.It is all to do with the wavelength of blue!!!

Another reason is that only recently have super-bright LEDs become available at a reasonable price. Which is why you can now buy such things as LED torches.

Well my neighbour has blue and white lights on a tree outside his house though I don't think it's anything to do with fashion, more that he's a Blackburn Rovers fan!
