Don't want to derail the missing child thread.

I am just surprised to see you using the expletive 'For Christ's sake' . I seems like a silly thing to say, for an atheist.

That's all.

I am an atheist....and I use that phrase.
Certainly no big deal.
Me too.. I say fgs. But I don't mean it literally, it's just a phrase.
I don't think any expletives are generally used in relation to their original meaning.
I think people use terms like that and 'For God's sake' etc purely as exclamations.

They probably wouldn't capitalise God as I have though. :-)

Seems odd to me. Not making a 'big deal' out of it. Just making a comment.
No biggie - I'm an atheist and I say:-
fgs
jesus Christ
Christ sake
Bloody hell!!
And a few more!
Come on Tilly, admit it, you're bored :-)
My OH says loads of things like that, and he is a total non-believer.
Question Author
Not bored at all, Prudie. :-)

I still think it's odd.
He'd best avoid 'Gadzooks' and 'For goodness sake' then as both have the same derivation.
Oy Tills got a couple of tunes that I know you will like. Listened to an album and thought Tills would like this, will post 2 tracks later on at the end of this thread for you.
Sugar.... missed the Stoke goal posting then. Just about to sit and eat catch you later.
Tilly...as everybody else has said, I use it as a figure of speech, especially when I am frustrated, as I was with PP's reply on a serious thread.

It can also be used for its shock effect as can "bloody".

Don't worry Tilly....if I ever feel religion is creeping up on me, you will be the first to know !
Don't worry Tilly....if I ever feel religion is creeping up on me,

I would have thought being an ex Catholic you would be used to religion creeping up on you, mikey.
Question Author
Mikey, I know it's just an expression as are all the others that have been quoted. It just made me smile that you should resort to using a religion based one. Is I have said, it sounded really odd, coming from you. It was unexpected.
Question Author
Thanks, Togo. I'll look forward to that. I am watching the match too.
Blimey and goodbye are both religion based as well.
Tilly....then I will have to try harder not do to it so much in the future !
Question Author
Take no notice of me, Mikey. I'm just chatting. Say what you like. (As you will) :-)
Same as sqad. Use it all the time, even Jesus Christ.
