When buying a new watch you often find the battery is protected by a little piece of plastic, sort of horseshoe shape. Does anyone know what that piece of plastic is called? Grateful thanks.

It is called a seal, stops the chance of the battery being 'short circuited' before it is fitted.

Seriously!
It's to keep the battery unused until needed.
