A gorgeously melifluous Edinburgh voice, a true joy to listen to.
Yes, I can remember him as an investigative reporter.
He had a lovely way with him.

I want to know when and how the wall came down now lol.
Excellent. Thanks. Yes, I remember him. I wonder if the matter of the wall was ever resolved
Yes vaguely - think his sister was Molly Weir (Rentaghost)
Fantastic recording, thanks. Lovely voice and accent
Thanks Susan, fascinating - when neighbours fall out eh?
Growing up in Scotland in the fifties and sixties he seemed to be on tv every night. Interesting memories.
Yes, remember him well. Used to wear a deerstalker hat. Did reports on “Tonight”. This was a magazine programme on after the BBC News at 6pm. Cliff Michelmore was the host. It was introduced to fill the slot when BBC no longer closed for an hour around 6pm to 7pm (this was to allow mothers to put the children to bed).

Cliff, who died earlier this year aged 97, was married to Jean Metcalfe (Two-Way Family Favourites). He would sign off with “And the next Tonight is Tomorrow (or Monday) night. Goodnight”. Other regular participants included Alan Whicker and Polly Elwes. A musical interlude was provided and regulars included Cy Grant, singing a "topical calypso", and folk singers Robin Hall and Jimmie MacGregor.

I think if I could do the Geordie accent, the line, "Well how would she know I was looking out if she wasn't looking in?" would make a great party piece.
