to provide a service to customers
Get people to spend more money
I notice you don't both to say please or thank you.

Why should we help you in our spare time when you are so rude.
Customer service is to provide the connection with the customer and the product, to carry out the transaction or deliver the service.

Good customer service is to do it well, which in turn will encourage the customer to return, to spend more and to spread the word about the business in a positive manner.

Exquisite customer service can produce a higher level of return still, forging relationships with customers for life and creating a reputation of excellence

The purpose of customer service is to get big sticks and beat people who don’t do their own homework and are too rude to say please and thank you.
Customer service provides a facility to smooth the path to ensuring goods or services are procured at the maximum price whilst at the some time erecting a large but extremely polite interaction in the event that the procurer later wishes to reverse the earlier transaction for even the most minute of reasons.
