Why do ladyshaves and the like start to snag and pinch after a short period of use? I have bought both cheap and expensive ones and all without fail after a few months of regular use start pinching and chafing quite horribly, any advice on why it happens and what I can do?

Electric razors need sharpening just like any other razor.Alternately you need to replace the blades every few weeks or months

I had no idea that Electric shavers needed replacement blades, thank you for that, I will look into it further.
The blades on an electric razor get 'dull' just as any other blades do, there are sharpeners available for some makes. Others you just buy spare blade heads. I am male but I found electric razors far less use than a standard 'wet shaver'. They were popular 15 to 20 years ago I don't know anyone that still uses one.

I am female and I use a shaver for underarm and legs as its convienient, just lately though I cannot seem to shave underarm without pinching/burning them.
Do you clean the shaver after use? Not familiar with the 'ladyshave' but I think all electric razors have a removable foil/head for cleaning. After cleaning I suggest you oil the cutters with clipper oil, such as :-http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Wahl-Clipper-Oil-118ml-for-Hair-Clippers-3310-517-/141433626417?hash=item20ee19df31 .

It works for razors as well as clippers and keeps the blades sharp.
