For the third time in the last month we have had post for somebody else at our address. The first time I sent it back to the address on envelope, last week it was obviously a credit card from Capital One, which I returned , today we have another, return address is p.o.box 6339, cottage Leap, Rugby, it has a claim ref on it.This person has never lived at our address, it could be a scam, but I dont see what they would get out of it, what is the best thing to do please.

I get them but I just write "return to sender, not known at this address" and put it back in the post box. A nuisance though, I agree.
it may just be someone with bad handwriting, whose address gets misread.

janbee is absolutely correct...

BUT i routinely open mine and write to them saying I am at the address and not X bloggs but I live in N Manch and a successor cloned a previous tenant which was a bit troublesome ...

If you RTS a letter then apparently according to one 'hello-girl' a thousand blood-hounds are put on the job of finding out what went wrong and righting it ! Yeah my a-r-s-e what really happens is that you get a few more or a visit fro the bailiffs....

I just write 'not known at this address' on the envelope, date it and initial it and put it back inthe postbox.
If it comes back to me I write 'still not known at this address' on it.
I am fortunate, I suppose , in living across the road from a postbox.
Reference the advice by 'methyl', all unsolicited mail can be stopped in this way, but you can also do it by automated phone 0845 703 4599
I would not assume that anything sinister is going on.....possibly someone has entered an incorrect postcode that has ended up at your house.

P.O.box 6339 cottage leap Rugby is a legal rip off company called uniform tax rebate. (i.e. they forward your letter to the inland revenue and charge you while not adding any value to the operation.) I suspect someone put a false name and address down on some dodgy form.
