I have a laser hair removal machine that has a plug with two prongs(?) I may have got an adaptor when I bought the machine but if I did it is lost.

I know that I need to buy something but will all 2 ->3 prong adaptors be the same of do they vary?

The machine has been sitting in its box since I got it (nearly a year) so there is every chance that it could be lying around.

Good morning, Wolf63. Are the cats keeping you awake? ;-)

There are lots of different types of 2-pin plugs:

However the type that you've got is almost certainly a fairly standard European one, so you simply need something fairly similar to a shaver adaptor (which men routinely use to plug electric shavers, with two prongs, into UK sockets). Unfortunately though, you probably can't use an actual shaver adaptor because they've usually got 1 Amp fuses in them and Google suggests that laser hair removal machines draw considerably more current than that.

So you need a suitable travel adaptor, such as this one:

When I get these type of plugs, I cut them off and put on a normal 3 pin plug.
mxy. In that case you wouldn't be earthed?

Thanks guys. I will get one but will also look to see where I may have put the original. I have one that is attached to the cat's water fountain. But that would be impractical to swap over (I am lazy).

I think that I should have just stayed in bed with the kitties today - actually that sounds like an excellent idea.

Chris - they tried to start WWIII on the bed, on top of me, at silly o'clock. They were trading punches and swearing. Siblings!! Susan

I would think you need something like an electric shaver adaptor. As you only have a two pin plug you wouldn't need an earth, the appliance would be double insulated.

Thanks Dodger. I bought a travel adapter earlier when I was out earlier. It says that it complies to BS1363-3 and was in the travel section of the shop.

I didn't realise how complicated all this plugs and bulbs for lights is. The vast array of choices in the shops doesn't help and there is never an assistant when you want to ask them something.

Thanks. Just got to build up the courage to use the laser machine now.
