When is the best time to take this medication, morning, before bed, or does it not really matter?

I would say never. I was prescribed it and it made my depression so much worse. I stopped taking it of my own accord and immediately felt much better. Perhaps it is just me, though, as the doctor was very surprised when I told her what I'd done.

It doesn't really matter. Most people take it in the morning, preferably after some food. It can make you feel worse the first couple of weeks, that means it's working.
Perhaps I should have persevered. I stopped after 10 days.

I'm with Jackdaw on this. I was on it for about 6 months and i became so lethargic it was unbelievable. I couldn't concentrate properly and even the most mundane of tasks became a battle of willpower. I weaned myself off them, taking one every 2 days, then 3, etc, etc. After about 3 weeks i began to feel better, though still very depressed at times. I still suffer depression and have bouts of anxiety in the company of strangers or in unfamiliar surroundings, but, in my own little way, i am coping.
It's the anxiety coming out. If you didn't need them, there would have been no change. But if you're ok, jackdaw, no harm done :-)
What dosage, ken? They sound too much for you.
I take it in the morning.
Although I also felt like lead at times within the first few months. They do take six months minimum to really see what they are doing. They aren't like antibiotics.
I was prescribed Citalopram some years ago to combat recurring bouts of depression. I take one tablet in the morning with my first cuppa. My doctor has prescribed a low dose which I am likely to take for the rest of my life just to keep me on an even keel. No side effects and it just a part of my life now.
My symptoms were exactly the same as Ken's. I only had mild depression following breaking my shoulder and being unable to cope so I suppose I'm lucky.
I've forgotten what dosage i was on. When i was first diagnosed with depression i was prescribed Prozac which i remained on for about 2 years. I weaned myself off those, too, and discovered that the ratio of good fays/bad days hardly altered, if at all. As i said earlier, i take no medication for the depression/anxiety now and take each day as it comes.
I always take mine first thing in the morning.
im on 20mg and its says on the box to take it in the morning.i felt very sick the first few weeks of taking it but that has passed now.
