Ive been taking 30mg of Mirtazapine daily for the past 18 months. A few months after beginning this medication I noticed that my long distance vision was becoming a bit 'blurry' but thought nothing of it. However recently I have noticed a marked deterioration. I am currently sat about 8 feet from my tv and cannot read the screen (watching the chase and cannot read the questions that appear on the screen) picture seems fine but cannot read words, cant properly see my clock above the tv either or read street signs if im not close up.
Plan to get an eye test soon but was wondering if it was connected to my medication?
Thanks for any replies guys.

I think blurred vision is on the list of posiible side-effects for Mirtazapine, ......read the patient information leaflet which will be in the box

Glaucoma is a rare side effect of Mirtazapine.
It might be connected to your medication, but I think that it is unlikely.
The commonest cause for your symptoms is age related......although I do not know your age.
*correction*....I've just read the patient information leaflet, + blurred vision is NOT listed as a possible side effect x x

Thanks for replies.
I never read the side affects of medication, would just rather see how I go on with it first (and worry about side affects later) and I dont have the patient information leaflet with my current batch of Mirtazapine as i binned it along with the box but thanks for looking at it Bathsheba.
It just seemed a coincidence that I noticed my eyesight deterioating after starting on this medication. I also noticed that my sex drive disappeared, not a bad thing though as I'm single anyway :-(
BTW Squad, I'm 48.

Basically you are saying you cant see proper

go and get an eye test
they will check you pressures for glaucoma as part of the deal

the test is about £20 BUT you sound as tho you might be in one of the many categories to get it Free

Will do that PP, I'm just one of those people who put thing off until the last minute. Gotta get it sorted though. I'd hate to think that my eyesight got to the point that I couldnt read at all.
You're welcome, nailit.
Incidentally, if you've made it to 48 without needing specs, you've done well ;) x x
I would think it has more to do with age. After not really needing glasses all my life I hit 40 and needed reading glasses, over the next couple of years I needed them more and more, I now have to wear them all day :(
My distance vision is bad but my close up is worse as I am long sighted.
