I would like to share what I have managed to achieve over the past few months.
I am type 2 Diabetic controlled by oral medication. I had a regular HbA1c result in May that showed a level of 8.5% and I weighed 94 kg, the diabetic specialist nurse suggested that insulin would be a suitable treatment. This I resisted because of the implications of switching to insulin.
Instead I decided to lose weight, so from the end of May I started to reduce my food intake, primarily using recipes from the two Hairy Bikers dieting books. I lost weight at the rate of approximately 1kg per week. As I was starting to feel hypoglycaemic symptoms develop under certain conditions I saw my GP who organised a repeat HbA1c test, which showed a level of 6.5% and resulted in a reduction of my medication rather than a switch to insulin.
I have lost 14kg or just over 2 stone.
I am also hypothyroid, and I am waiting to speak to my GP after a recent thyroid Function Test result.

Well done you. Wow, what a great achievement. xx
That's awesome, well done you. I'm a type one diabetic and also hypothyroidic and it's a pain so brilliant that you've taken decisive action to improve everything for yourself rather than simply making the change to insulin :)
