right category for this I hope so my niece recently got solar panels and is currently with british gas for her electricity and gas she has sent all the necessary paperwork to them for feed in tariff payment but hasn't heard back from them yet as this can apparently take a while, she is thinking of changing supplier but would leave the tariff with british gas so can she change her supplier now and wait for british gas to get in touch about the tariff payment or does she have to wait until she hears from them

apparently you can have different energy supplier from the one that pays you the tariff but again not sure, think this was on ofgem site, but don't quote me on that as its second hand information
I assume the enhanced payment for electricity supplied to a company could theoretically be with one company whilst the use of electricity bought from a supplier could be with another.

I don't know if this is actually done though. It might be too complicated for all concerned. After all, these power suppliers seem incapable of even producing a plain and simple to read bill let alone letting them loose on having to cope with power flowing one way to one and the other way from another.
We get our electric from Scottish Gas, and our feed in goes to the Hydro (ie. SSE)

We never thought that the feed in could go to any other firm, probably because the Hydro are the ones that maintain the cables etc.
Where I live in Australia the best we can get is about one sixth of what we pay for power. We export eighty percent of what we generate.

I really don't care what they pay. The important thing is that the power we feed into the grid is making coal fired power uneconomic.
