What dirty have they done?
"plusnet" excellent
Virgin is good if you have cable in your area.
Another vote for Plusnet.
Plusnet are excellent - so another vote for them.

We left BT after years of battling with them.

Plusnet call centre is in England and have had nothing but praise for the way they deal with customers.
They are also super efficient.
And what's more our bills are much cheaper!
im with talktalk essential package cant fault it and cheap, but thats my opinion
others have had problems but i never have
Plusnet is owned by BT.

The words frying pan and fire could apply.
A friend has Plusnet and every time he calls customer services he's talking to someone in India.

I'm with BeThere and have had no problems. Customer services are in the UK and when we moved from a tiny village back into a city our internet was changed over before we arrived at our new house - only 25 minutes later.

Now, the initials of BeThere are BT (yet again!) but I really can't fault them.

Unless you live in a cable area you'll have to have a BT line for most ISPs and there's no getting away from it.

We rent our line from BT and our internet is BeThere.
Plusnet are owned by BT but operate as a separate business. I have been assured that their call centre is in England and have never on the many occasions I have spoken to them got through to an Indian callcentre. Since 2010 all their call centre operations have been in Sheffield. I changed to them in 2011.

True ^
In that case I must have been very unfortunate to have got the only Indian employee in the call centre when I called them up for the neighbour's connection a couple years ago.

Update: I must have caught them before they came back home!
Though owned by BT, plusnet operate independenlty. Excellent UK customer service. Broadband and telephone - excellent as well. After years of virgin media (too big and less friendly, too long on hold) im glad to have made the switch. On my last call to them they even told me how i could reduce my bill and they placed me on a more suitable tarriff, no penalty, no change to contract t and c etc. .
I'm with John Lewis Broadband- The service is provided by Plusnet and is very good. Also, recommended by Which? Customer service is in Bradford, btw.
Sorry! Lottie appears to be right, again. It is Sheffield.
As I understand matters, whatever ISP you have, BT landlines will be involved. I am with BT for my telephone and broadband and have no cause for complaint. £25. per month for everything. All telephone calls(One hr duration each) free of charge and 10GB of broadband per month.

A neighbour of mine I think is with Talk-Talk and, when he has a problem, he becomes involved with each company blaming the other for a loss of service.

I take the view that it is better to have a single provider for both Telephone and Broadband. But I am an oldie and have been with BT from the days it was 'Post Office Telephones'.

Ron.
my phone line and broad band are all with SHEFFIED based plusnet you dont have to have your landline with bt
i paid 1 year in advance for my plusnet landline which works out at £9.50 per month
what did BT do which is so bad? I've been with them for ages, really pleased with them - they've just upgraded me to fibre optics, whizz!
nothing wrong with bt but was saving £4 per month line rental with plus net also evening / weekend calls and 10 gb per moth download /unmetered between 12 am and 8 am for £6.49 per month
