I have inadvertantly cut up the wrong payg sim card (don't ask) and I can get a replacement tomorrow hopefully, but in the meantime what will callers hear and will I receive any texts with the totally cut in half destroyed one.

The texts will be stored in the central computer until you obtain a replacement sim with the same number.

Callers will hear that your number is unobtainable / switched off, unless you have voicemail activated.
