Has he paid?

Question Author
No. It's pay on collection.

Good, that's sensible :)
Pull their phone number up http:// If the number is invalid, report them for incorrect contact details, and then relist. Usually you can sort out things with a phone call |

Question Author
do you know what is an acceptable time for a buyer to not yet collect?
|
|
meant to say, a buyer has 4 days to pay for normal postable listings so I would think 4 days to get in contact would be sufficient

^^ :)
It baffles me why buyers take so long to either pay or get in touch after winning a collection item. You could read or ask here http:// Loads of good advice |

I'd always give a collector a week to collect, they may be at work in the week or work odd hours etc.
Email him again now, and say that if he doesn't collect by 8pm Monday evening, you will have no choice than to report him to eBay for non-payment and cancel the transaction through eBay and put it back up for sale again, as you can't way for an indefinite period for him to pay and collect. If there were other people bidding, say so, then you can offer it to the runner-up bidder. Email him again tonight, reminding him you haven't heard. Email him again Sunday night, ditto, saying "if not collected by tomorrow evening, transaction is cancelled". If he contacts you in the meantime, adjust the emails accordingly. I'd always allow a week, same as I allow a week overall for payment. If someone buys, I send them an invoice - 3 days later I send them a reminder - at 5 days I email and say "my policy is that if someone doesn't pay within seven days, I'll report them for non-payment and cancel the transaction". The threat of reporting (which I do carry through) often leads people to pay up. |

Question Author
Hi
He purchased the item on Monday. So I will wait until Monday to email him. I will send him the invoice today though. Thanks |
|
But he must have the sellers address before the seller can make that sort of demand, box
Unless the OP is a business seller, the buyer won't have it, so the seller is going to give away his address to someone who appears, on the face of things, avoiding their buyer responsibility? I certainly wouldn't do that without some form of contact before hand from the buyer Personally I would call them first and then give my address in this situation |
|
He might pay you if you do that though muchlove

OJ, as soon as you send someone an invoice on eBay, they have your address, and it's easy enough to find out the buyer's address. I'm not a business seller but my address for payment is clearly shown on the invoice sent to the buyer. I always send an invoice even if it's to be a cash transaction, then I can mark it as Paid once the money's handed over.
Muchlove, I'd recommend you do the same, invoice as soon as the sale is made and the listing finished (and in future, if you get a PayPal payment, that means you can print off a despatch note which shows both your addresses, to go in the package). |

Question Author
I've just sent him the invoice.
I will wait until tomorrow afternoon before I email him again, stating that I may have to relist the item if no contact is made, as I assume he no longer wants it. |
|
Start as you mean to go on, muchlove - there might be a reason, he might be ill or similar (and I find not everyone looks at their emails as often as I do).
|
|
Yep, the 'I'll send and invoice' wasn't there when I said that :)
It is collection only though Box, I wouldn't send or pay on an invoice for that |
|
I do, oj, only to keep my own records straight. I guess we all do it differently, within the same framework!

It is too early to file a non payment report , you have to wait 7 days minimum.
Don't phone as it will not be recorded by ebay. Send an ebay message asking when he will collect , just say you need to know so as to be certain you are in. Keep all contact via ebay so if it comes to having to report it to ebay they know the entire story. I have had people take weeks to arrange to collect but they had paid by paypal first As I said, if it was sold on the 2nd you need to wait until a full week has passed before you can report non payment so the 10th will be the earliest ebay will accept a non payment report . |
|
maybe more specific on payments and collections if you advertise again?
|
|
Eddie, I agree - that's what I suggested, to leave it until next Monday (9th) before suggesting to report for non-payment.

can you send a second chance offer to the nearest bidder (if any)
tell the original buyer/bidder he's too late. as a seller put in terms & conditions that you want payment & If collection by a specified date, or they lose out. good luck |
|
You can open an NPB now - 4 days after the listing has ended
I like the 2nd chance offer idea :) |
| I recently purchased some tickets for a West End show on ebay. The tickets seemed to be genuine, however when we got to the theatre, although we were allowed in, there were people sitting in 'our'... |
