i wondered if it was somehow supposed to make it clearer perhaps - so that a soft r cant get lost and be confused.
i cant understand it myself but for experience auction goers who are used to it, perhaps it helps?
Don't understand, unless you mean as in the video link. Antiques auctioneers in the British houses don't do it. Did once attend a good picture sale in Washington D.C. where one did . He went so fast and unintelligibly that he had to tell me that I'd just bid against myself, and already had the lot !
