New mobile phone

We are trying out the new phone what O/h bought yesterday.

I've just sent him a text, and rang his phone and it cuts off after just a few second. Any idea why please?

he has bought a cheapish phone from tescos, a Nokia.

Do you ring 150 for money balance as you do for T.Mobile?
Have you put some credit in it (e.g. £10 minimum)? I got a £12 Nokia phone from Tesco last summer and I put £10 in it straight away, and it worked fine.
...I forgot to say that my phone is a pay as you go model. Is yours like that?

Hi bookbinder, problem all sortedl all but this small problem now. Why does screen shut down too quickly not letting you keep it on screen for more than a couple of seconds before adding phone numbers etc.
Hope you can guess what I'm trying to say, haha many thanks
Question Author
It is a pay as you go.
Question Author
it does have a £10 top up
Well, I'm not an expert on mobiles (mine's a Nokia model 1616), but you could try this: I think the screen display shuts down just to save the battery, but the phone is probably still 'live'.
To store a number in the memory:
1. Switch on. 2. Start display appears. 3. Display changes to show 'loud' or maybe 'soft'. 4. Press white bar above green symbol on call key. 5 Symbols display appears. 6. Scroll right to to phone book symbol. 7. Press white bar above green symbol. 8. Scroll down to Add Contact. 9. Press white bar above green symbol. 10. Enter contact name (not number). 11.Press white bar to enter contact name. 12. Enter phone number. 13. Press white bar to enter number. 14. Faces display appears. 15. Use scroll key to select a face. 16. Press white bar to ente. 17. Confirmation of name, number and face appears.
You probably have the "screen saver" set for a short period ? That'd be my guess. Have a look at the settings.
