It will give you estimates for each route.

I wasn't really thinking about distance, but actual experience of dual carriageway versus motorway. The A1M changes to dual carriageway quite alot.

Isn't the whole of the A1 a dual carriageway ?

I would opt for the A1, it is a far more relaxing drive.
